Chet Lo SS24 – Reclamation, Self-Love, and Spiky Knitwear
Chet Lo is the rising star in the fashion world that’s about to have everybody talking. In his latest collection, Chet Lo is using his platform to challenge societal norms and redefine beauty through his captivating designs. His latest Spring/Summer 2024 collection is a bold statement of self-discovery and passion, leaving a FAULTLess impression on the fashion scene.
Healing Through Art: Chet Lo Embracing What Was Once Taboo
Lo’s personal journey deeply influences his creative vision. Growing up as a Chinese-American, he grappled with societal pressures and internalised shame, leading to a feeling of disconnection from his true self. This senescent has been shared by many artists throughout the years and it’s all the more exciting to see this place out in the world of fashion design.
This season, Chet Lo takes a powerful step towards reclaiming his narrative. He draws inspiration from ancient Chinese erotic art and Shunga, subjects once deemed forbidden, to create seductive prints for his collection. These intricate designs adorn knit lace trousers and satin devore tops, subtly depicting couples of various sexualities engaged in intimate moments.
While no great point is made of it is made by the brand’s announcement, it’s also of note that the campaign stars adult model Cody Silver. This added layer of the forbidden taboo turned empowering fashion moment shows that the creative roots of this campaign traverse deeper than meets the eye.
A Play of Contrasts: Delicate Knits Meet Edgy Spikes
Delicate knit lace mini-dresses and second-skin skirts juxtapose the graphic prints, creating a captivating tension. Chet Lo’s signature spiky knitwear continues to evolve, catering to a diverse range of preferences. Babydoll tees showcase delicate spikes, ideal for those dipping their toes into the spiky trend. For the fashion-forward, however, maxi skirts adorned with gargantuan spikes make a bold statement. It makes for a fun juxtaposition that this sensual collection would remain guarded behind these audacious spikes.
Beyond the Surface: Chet Lo Symbols of Duality and Liberation
Chet Lo goes beyond the visual, imbuing his designs with deeper meaning. References to Shibari, a Japanese form of rope bondage, appear on double-layered knit mini dresses and reverse neckties. These elements symbolize the internal restrictions and societal pressures Lo once faced.
Celebrating Heritage: Chinese Knots and Collaboration
The collection also features Chinese knots, a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture, incorporated into thong details and sleeveless tops. This subtle nod to Lo’s heritage adds a personal touch to the designs.
Building on the success of their previous collaboration, Chet Lo teams up with Charles & Keith again for SS24. This season, they unveil outlandishly spiked loafers and sultry strappy heels that complement the collection’s theme perfectly. The collaboration with ISKO continues as well, utilizing their innovative Ctrl+Z material for denim pieces featuring Lo’s signature erotic laser prints.
Chet Lo: Empowering Through Fashion
Chet Lo believes that clothing has the power to liberate and empower individuals. His tailored trousers with hip slits and halterneck knit dresses with scissoring prints are testaments to this vision. Through his designs, Lo strives to make everyone feel confident, aligned, and their most sexy selves.
Fashion is sometimes more than clothes and that certainly rings true for this collection. Chet Lo ss24 is s a voice for self-acceptance and a celebration of individual narratives. As Lo continues to push boundaries and rewrite the rules, the fashion world eagerly awaits what he unveils next.
