Wonho X FAULT Magazine Covershoot and Interview

Interview: Miles Holder

Earlier this month, Wonho released “Ain’t About You” featuring Kiiara marking his first collaboration with an American artist during his solo career. Within two weeks, the track currently has 1.9 million views on Youtube which for fans of his career, should come as no great surprise.

Wonho has consistently continued to hone his talents as a performer with his latest EP entitled Love Synonym Pt.2: Right for Us displaying that progression for all to hear.

We caught up with Wonho to learn more about his process, his latest music and of course, his FAULTs.

Now that Love Synonym #2: Right for Us, has been released and marinated with the public, do you feel you achieved everything you wanted to with the album?

I always feel like there’s room for improvement. But of course, I’m so grateful for all the love and support from my fans for Love Synonym 2: Right for Us!

You have a lot of dedicated and devoted fans, and you took a lot of chances on the last album, do you ever fear that your creative choices might be at odds with what the fans want to hear from you?

I always think about what my fans would want to hear and see, and try to melt it with the message I want to convey to WENEEs as best as I can. So I try to focus on that instead of feeling fearful.

What’s been the hardest hurdle of your solo career so far?

I think it’s how I’ve been trying to find the right balance as I tend to be a perfectionist especially when working on my music.

What do you want your songwriting to say about you, the person?

Someone who is warm, always improving, and loving his fans!

What is the last song or performance that made you cry?

Losing You, which is my letter to WENEEs.

What scares you most of all when it comes to your art?

As an artist, I feel the pressure to always keep myself up to date in this fast changing world. That, and how I always have to take good care of my health both mentally and physically!

The press gets very excited about your work, do you feel pressure to live up to the hype surrounding you?

I’d be lying if I said I had never felt pressure before. But now I try to embrace it as it is part of what I do.

What is something you wish more people knew about you?

That I always try to do my best whatever I do!

What’s something you’ve done this year for the benefit of your mental health?

Eat well, sleep well, and of course, WORK OUT!

What is your FAULT?

I tend to be a perfectionist and sometimes it can be considered as a “fault” I guess? Haha
