Patrick Martin takes inspiration from Springsteen on “Both Of You”

Meet Patrick Martin. The Wisconsin native calls Los Angeles home, but still maintains his small town sensibilities through his wide-eyed, emotive songwriting. Just 12 months ago Patrick Martin was working in the Apple store in Los Angeles – now he’s meeting the people at the very top. Setting his eyes on the biggest prize of all, Patrick Martin wants to take his music around the world. Constantly writing, he’s already plotting his debut album, and wants to deepen the social element of his lyricism.

Today Patrick shares the first glimpse into that debut album via a new single “Both Of You.” The song kicks off his partnership with British producer Kid Harpoon (Florence + The Machine, Harry Styles). Blessed with a Springsteen-esque vocal, it’s about betrayal, from the point of view of the person left behind. The accompanying music video follows a downtrodden and heartbroken Patrick, on possibly not the greatest day of his life. What could go wrong, most certainly does.

Of the video, Patrick says, “I love this video. Being in this industry you can sometimes take yourself too seriously, so I was really happy when the director pitched this video idea to me. The Beatles are a massive inspiration to me, and I feel like this is the kind of thing they would do.”
