Introducing Swedish alt-pop duo Vola Tila

Swedish alt-pop duo Vola Tila arrives today with their infectious debut single “New Behaviour.” The first song from a to-be-named EP, “New Behaviour” is an emotional account of “a loss of oneself” and was recorded in collaboration with Sonic Boom (MGMT, Panda Bear) and Stockholm producer Charlie Storm.

Vola Tila are songwriters / producers Johannes Henriksson and Richard Andersson, who found kinship in their shared love of ’70s and ’80s music. “Since then we’ve spent almost every day together in the studio,” Johannes recounts.

‘New Behaviour’ was one of the lucky few tracks to make it on to the final EP, an encapsulation of the duo’s musical energy and a direct account of their respective inner turmoil. “This person is feeling confused by mental concepts between who she/he is and supposed to be. During the making of it, both of us were very sedated. It meant that we filtered out a lot of the music we made during those sessions and only kept the songs we could connect to on a deeper level.”
