FAULT: How long have you been together?

Leopold: We started really percolating about a year and a half ago.

.

FAULT: What is your sound like?

Ioanna:  If one element of the music is complex we keep the other part stripped down, and vice versa.  We’re interested in contrasts and friction in sound.

FAULT: Was you around music growing up?

Ioanna:  My parents were avid music listeners and had ecclectic taste.  Everything from classical music to Enigma.  Their music collection helped inform my tastes today,

FAULT: Do you guys writes songs collaboratively?

Ioanna:  Yes.  Sometimes I’ll start an idea and bring it to Leopold or he’ll start an idea and bring it to me.

FAULT: Who has been your biggest influence?

Leopold:  Nick Cave and Metallica. They are uncompromising, which I admire.

Ioanna:  I would have to agree.  Also Vangelis, Enigma.  As far as stage performance, I’m influenced by styles of kabuki dance.  Also Lux Interior from The Cramps.  If you see me wrap a microphone cable around my neck it’s in an homage to him.

FAULT: What new music are you listening to?

Ioanna: Odd Future, The Drums

FAULT: What inspired you to make music in the first place?

Ioanna:  Wanting to create music that we would want to listen to.

FAULT: Who do you think is overrated?

Ioanna: Nothing.  No one. Everyone.  Everything.  It’s all relative.

FAULT: Have you got a favourite quote?

Ioanna: “In n Out, that’s what a hamburger’s all about” – Anon.

Leopold: My hangover.
