Pedro Coube Arieta
FAULT: Who is Pedro Coube Arieta?
I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. My mother is a watercolor painter and my dad an ophthalmologist.
I’m a traveller, an artist and a photographer. In any order you want.
FAULT: How did your career start?
While still in high-school in Sao Paulo, I attended the photography program of Escola Panamericana de Artes and assisted the photographer Raphael Costa. Later on, I moved to NYC, where I graduated from the Bfa program at School of Visual Arts, and also interned for Edward Keating and assisted Guy Aroch before venturing on my own.
FAULT: Who is your favourite photographer? past and present?
Uhmm. hard to say. For today, I’m gonna say my favorites are August Sanders and Philip Lorca diCorcia
FAULT: What camera do you use?
A 8×10 Lotus. And when not possible a digital SLR.
FAULT: Who do you think is the most photogenic person?
Whoever I’m shooting at the time.
FAULT: Who would you love to work with?
I would absolutely love to work with Camilla Nickerson.
FAULT: What are you currently working on?
A nude/portraits book about the upcoming generation of models from Brazil. Including Andressa Fontana (images above), Martha Streck, Lais Oliveira, Barabara di Creddo, Barbara Berger, Caroline Francischini and others..
Also a limited edition fine art magazine called 8×10 , which is actually a plexiglas box of prints, since the magazine is unbound and each sheet printed on only one side! Issue B is about to come out. And in this issue, I’m proud to say that the headliner is Noritoshi Hirakawa.
FAULT: Digital or Film?
Both!!
FAULT: What is your ‘FAULT’?
my endless insomnia .
