Exclusive Interview with Clinic

FAULT Magazine Issue 9 features cult band and enduring FAULT Favourite, Clinic.

FAULT: Clinic has been together 14 years. Did you foresee this sort of longevity when you first started?
Ade Blackburn: I thought it would last longer than just a few years, but the odds are always against a band lasting that long. It’s either stupidity or bloody-mindedness that’s kept us going.

FAULT: What have been some of the biggest influences to you as an artist/band over the years?
Ade Blackburn: The Shangri-Las were a big influence at the start, along with Can, Serge Gainsbourg, and 13th Floor Elevators. ’70s punk was also really important— bands like the Urinals, The Screamers and Crime.
