Kyle Nicolaides is a Los Angeles based singer song writer. Kyle has two amazing EP’s out LUNA and Hellhound Revival. Nicolaides has been playing numerous gigs, just signed to a major label and is about to release his first full length album. FAULT caught up with Kyle this week to find out more about his background, influences and what we can expect from the artist the rest of 2011.

FAULT: Kyle can you tell us about your musical background?

Kyle: I’ve been playing piano for around 12 years, and picked up the guitar in August.

FAULT: Were you involved in other bands prior to starting your solo career?

Kyle: I’ve been in some bands. The names were like Martyrs, Cosmic Revelators, and Porch Clam.

FAULT: What groups/musicians have had the biggest impact on yourself as an Artist?

Kyle: I’m still working on the notion of being considered an artist.  It’s a serious title, and I’d like to fully undress every aspect of being one before I call myself one.

FAULT: What is your song writing process like?

Kyle: It’s like fishing, or trying to meditate. There’s a current and sometimes you catch something. And sometimes you think you’ve got a deliciously giant fish, but then turns out to be a cancerous clunk of old boot. And other times its like pulling hungry leeches off your body.

FAULT: What are some influences behind the your latest material?

Kyle: Ignorance. I want to make people aware. I want to fight against ignorance. And change the way someone thinks.

FAULT: You’ve been playing a lot of gigs lately, how have you found the audience response has been? 

Kyle: A lot of girls who look too young to remember what Y2K was, seem to like it…  Or maybe preteens are learning how to lie at younger ages.

FAULT: Do you have any plans to release a full length album?

Kyle: I do. It will hopefully be out sometime while I’m alive still. Or we might be able to get more hype if it was a posthumous release..

FAULT: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?

Kyle: Amy Gerstler. She’s a modern poet, and I want to learn from her.

FAULT: What are you currently working on?

Kyle: I’ve currently got a cold, so I’m working on getting healthy. I’m also working on music.

FAULT: What are your plans for the rest of 2011?

Kyle: I have trouble planning beyond the hour, but I’ve got some people around me who excel at planning things days, even months in advance.

FAULT: What is your FAULT?

Playing peek a boo with the small children of strangers on buses, and sinking low in my seat the as the parents try to figure out why their child is laughing so much.
