From Tangerines to Lemons
So for a head’s up on summer next year; it’s out with the tangerine of 2011 and in with Formica yellow, the canary lemon kind of yellow we all saw on the Queen at this year’s royal wedding. Yes, yellow is big, and has subsequently been seen all over New York Fashion Week’s catwalks.
The lowdown: Vera Wang had entire dresses in fluorescent yellow, the same colour flashing through graphic prints on skirts, shirts and shoes. Rodarte was wildly inspired by Van Gogh and his artwork, clear to see when a beautifully fresh sunflower print emblazoned his gowns. Oscar de la Renta shocked at his show when floral lace was layered over an amazing gold yellow billowing skirt (the effect was sublime). And Proenza Schouler injected florid shots of yellow into their dominantly brown and black collection.
The conclusion: You now have approximately 6 months to prepare your wardrobe for this incredibly sunny semblance.
