Thakoon Spring/Summer 2012 RTW
What do you get when you mix the opulence of Marie Antoinette, the toughness of the American Cowboy of the Wild West, and a big dose of Bollywood glamor? Thakoon’s Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection, of course! I was immediately taken by the bright, vibrant shades of turquoise and aquamarine, as well as the bright shocks of orange and crisp black. One of my favorite looks was worn by Antonia Wesseloh, and featured a sharply-tailored turquoise dress with black lace detailing along the sides of the bodice. The metallic buttons running down the front, along with the metal-tipped turquoise heels—a modern, feminine take on the classic cowboy boot—made this look a definite “must have” for my Spring wardrobe.
Although Marie Antoinette may not have been as excited about Thakoon’s Western-inspired detailings as I was, I doubt she would’ve been able to resist the cotton candy colored updos sported by each model. Granted, it’s not a look fit for the office, but nix the color, and you’ve got a modernized version of a classic updo.
The Bollywood vibe was present in the form of gold lamé, bold prints, and the occasional sari. If you’re not brave enough to wear Thakoon’s head-to-toe prints, then by all means, pair those orange patterned trousers with a smart white button-down and a tailored black blazer. Just don’t be afraid to embrace color—because it’s obviously not going anywhere anytime soon.
