Blow Presents…Fanny and Jessy
Design duo Fanny and Jessy are friends from the West Country, who came to study at London College of Fashion, graduating in 2009. Since leaving they gained experience independently working with designers including Nova Dando, PPQ and Jean Charles de Castelbajac, but decided to try their own label, which in its fourth year, is proving very successful.
The show at London Fashion Week this September is eagerly anticipated, as they have been snapped up by legendary PR Agency, Blow and will be showing “the Kings Collection” at Blow Presents on 19th. Already popular with certain celebs including Lady Gaga and Jessie J, this will be massive exposure as this show is renowned for launching the next big things to the uber cool stylists, photographers and press who attend.
They are already causing ripples with the hipsters of the east, and their AW collection “Dissection” available in Beyond the Valley in London and indie shop Milk in LA.
This collection is loosely based on nature and the biology of animals, with the seams on each piece of clothing reminiscent of veins. Not ones to shy away from hands on research, this meant that the girls learned to dissect the chickens back on the farm in Somerset, so they could see first hand the textures and organs that they used for inspiration. Zips, leather and coins dominate for AW, so it will be interesting to see if this has carried on to their summer collection.
Fanny and Jessy LLP is aimed at edgy independent women, who are confident in their femininity and enjoy clothes for being clothes. It’s strength lies in the sporty silhouette, and androgyny, which keep it tomboy-ish and allows the designer and the customer to be more experimental. If it is anything like previous collections, it will be sexy for those who don’t need to try to hard, and I can’t wait to see it.
