The Valentino F/W 2011 Haute Couture collection looked as though it had been plucked out of some magical dream. All grace and gentle femininity, each piece wrapped itself around the body like mist.
The collection was dominated by semi-sheer, floor-length gowns made from the most fragile of fabrics, all of them festooned with gilded lace and delicate beading. Silk velvet worked its way into long, flowing sleeves, while thin braided belts wrapped around the waist just so.
In true haute couture fashion, each piece was immaculately tailored, down to the smallest fabric-covered button. To top it all off, models traipsed down the runway in wispy, carefree buns and miniature jeweled tiaras.
