Artist Spotlight: Ellen Rogers

London-based fine art/fashion photographer Ellen Rogers has managed to breathe new life into an industry dominated by digitally-enhanced image-making. Her dreamy, lo-fi photos reveal a world in which “temptresses seduce and lure [the viewer] into unknown, dark lands.”

Rogers is a firm believer in the art and craft of analog photography; she does not utilize any digital equipment or computer-based manipulation other than a traditional scanner. Making use of an impressive collection of antique large- and medium-format cameras, Rogers creates and manipulates each image by hand in her at-home darkroom using a variety of techniques, all of which allow her to harness the intrinsic chaos of the development process.

A quick scan of Roger’s portfolio reveals the extent to which she embraces the beautiful imperfections that are inherent to her craft. It is no wonder, then, that she has caught the attention of major fashion magazines across the globe. Rogers’ client list also includes Charlotte Olympia, Maria Francesca Pepe, Elite Models, Piers Atkinson, Prangsta Costumers, and Next Models, including many others.
