Matt Crux
I’m Matt Crux and this is my virtual showroom. I’m 24 years young and moved from Buffalo, New York to Chandler, Arizona. I’ve lived here for over 3 1/2 years now and thoroughly enjoy the moment of now.
FAULT: What is about psychedelia that you love you so much?
The reason I love psychedelia so much is because I enjoy letting
myself go with the flow on a mind-expanding journey into the psyche.
When we learn to let go of preconceptions and conformity we start to
enter deep within the subconscious mind and tap into higher creative
forces and truths that exist within the hive mind of society. We can
begin to see a deeper understanding of what it means to be human.
Vibrant colors are another aspect of psychedelia that I enjoy because
they are a healing force. By using rich colors, that vibrational
energy is radiating from the artwork and actually healing people.
FAULT: What does the word psychedelia mean to you?
When I think of the word psychedelia I think of the mind. Psychedelic
art in any sense opens the mind to creative angles that opens doors
into new perceptions of the human experience. I feel through creating
mind-expanding art people can begin to see new dimensions of reality
that they may have never thought of before. It allows people to look
inside themselves and see who they are by relating to such a radical
view. We have been brought up in a society that has created belief
systems that aim to keep us dumbed down and stuck in one-way views.
Through psychedelic art people can start to see all the different
possibilities and views. There is always more than one way to view
something and we should be open up to other points of view. When we
understand where other people are coming from we begin to understand
ourselves and true healing can begin.
FAULT: Who did you grow up listening to?
The earliest memory I have of me listening to any type of music goes
back to 2nd grade when I can remember singing the song “Green Day ~
Basket Case” during lunch one day. It wasn’t until around 6th grade
that I really started to get into music when my brother bought me my
first cassette tape which was the album Follow the Leader by Korn. I
would pretty much listen to anything on the radio and actually would
fall asleep with the radio next to my head. Later on I started
listening to metal and classic rock. Some of my favorite bands growing
up were Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Korn, Disturbed, Type O
Negative, Live, Prodigy, Sublime, The Tea Party, and Tool just to name
a few.
FAULT: What are you currently listening to?
Right now I’ve been listening to a lot of Down Tempo, Indie, &
Electronic. I love higher vibrational frequency music that aims to
raise the vibrational thought of people’s minds. Some of my favorite
bands are Empire of the Sun, Foals, Crystal Castles, Boards of Canada,
Explosions in the Sky, Enigma, Shpongle, Grizzly Bear, Local Natives,
Matisyahu, Royksopp, Rue Du Soleil, Sounds from the Ground,
Telepopmusik, Tristeza, Tycho, The XX, & Zap Mama.
FAULT: Do you have any all time favorite artists?
My all time favorite artist is Alex Grey. He is truly a visionary
artist that has opened my eyes to higher dimensional consciousness.
For people that have a hard time grasping concepts of
interconnectedness they can easily take a look at one of his pieces
and truly connect with it on a deep soul level. Salvador Dali and
Kandinsky are also two other artists that inspire me with their unique
styles of creation. They were definitely tapping deep within their
subconscious minds.
FAULT: Are you inspired by your surroundings?
Of course I am, and anyone that says otherwise needs to think again.
We are constantly being bombarded with visuals and our subconscious
mind is taking it in all the time. So when we paint, draw, or create
anything we tap into our memories and experiences we’ve had throughout
life and actually create our souls for people to see. Everything is
about relations because everything is a reflection of us. We grow and
develop our sense of self from the world around us. Even when we tap
into our higher sense of self and draw inspiration from there, we are
tapping into our surroundings. The higher energetic forces of divine
creation envelopes the world and is a part of everything so no matter
what, we are drawing inspiration from our surroundings.
FAULT: What do you think of modern day Art?
I thoroughly enjoy modern art. I’ve met so many fantastic artists
through Facebook, Myspace and Twitter and feel that we are headed into
an era of extreme artistic growth. There are so many artists out there
that have so much potential to create pieces of art that will
positively change the world for Peace and Love. A Revolution of
visionary art is on the horizon and has just begun. So to all those
artists out there that still feel like they aren’t creating the
mind-expanding art they wish they could be… Just LET GO! Go with the
flow and just allow yourself to wildly create. Detach yourself from
structure and conformity and begin to please yourself!
FAULT: What medium do you most commonly use?
I primarily use acrylics on canvas as well create digital artwork with
Photoshop and Illustrator but I enjoy using all types of mediums. I
try not to limit myself to the unlimited creative possibilities that
are provided to us in the world. I plan on doing a lot more in the
future and am going to start doing sculptures when I have the
resources and time to begin such a venture. I’m also looking forward
to eventually doing some video art with Adobe After Effects.
FAULT: Who is underrated?
Some of the people that have had a huge impact on my life and I feel
are underrated are Jordan Maxwell & David Icke. These two people
deserve a lot more recognition for their remarkable research on the
occult and how society has been mislead and manipulated to keep people
from their true identities as gods and goddesses of divine creation.
People have been in a control system for way to long and these
intelligent speakers truly awaken people to a higher truth and
awareness.
FAULT: What can we expect from Matt Crux in 2011?
In 2011 you will be seeing a lot of me! I’m taking the world by storm
and will be bringing about an Art Revolution unlike the world has ever
seen. Phoenix will be rising from the ashes this year as WE bring
about a shift in consciousness through Peace and Love. My friends and
I are working on developing a community center for the arts called
“The Inhabitantz”. It will be a center located in Phoenix Arizona that
will bring about a revolutionary shift in the global community. We
will expand from that location eventually and take it across the world
to other countries as we create a network for the community to come
together in unity for Peace and Love all around the Globe. It’s time
for us as a global society to take a stand and bring about the change
we’ve wanted to see for a long time. We must take responsibility for
ourselves because we are the inhabitantz of this planet and we must
work together and be co-creators of Peace and Love. It is time to
raise the vibration of this planet so that we may heal as a collective
consciousness. I will be attending the International Art Expo in New
York City as well come this March. So be on the lookout for my feather
hat!
FAULT: What is your FAULT?
My fault is being me because everything is perfectly imperfect. So
when it comes down it, I have no faults… I’m perfect as is and love
myself and others every day that I live and breathe. I see past all
the faults in life and only view them as opportunities of development
and growth. We will never be what society deems “Perfect” because it
doesn’t exist. We are always learning from each other through our
“Faults”. If there were no faults we would have no basis for duality.
We must have faults so we can grow and see how far we’ve come. It is
only with faults that we can create who we wish to be.
