Premiere: Joyce Muniz and ANDRE VII Channel Pride, Heritage and Hi-NRG on New Single ‘Freeze’
Joyce Muniz

Joyce Muniz has long operated at the intersection of club culture, global exchange and lived experience – and her latest release, ‘Freeze’, sharpens that focus with intent. Out now via Kompakt Exklusiv, the single marks the first chapter of a two-part EP of the same name built on transcontinental collaboration, connecting Vienna’s electronic lineage with the pulse of Mexico City’s underground.
Created alongside Mexico City-based producer ANDRE VII, Freeze was conceived during Pride weekend in Vinicia – a setting that seeps into the track’s DNA. The result is a hi-NRG-driven cut that feels both celebratory and purposeful, capturing the rush of collective movement while foregrounding identity, heritage and shared space on the dancefloor.
For Muniz, the collaboration feels like a natural extension of a career shaped by cultural hybridity. Born in Brazil and raised in Vienna, Muniz’s journey – from MC and DJ at the city’s iconic Flex club to international releases, chart success and key curatorial roles within electronic music – has always been defined by connection rather than category. Freeze reflects that philosophy, drawing energy from difference rather than smoothing it out.
ANDRE VII’s contribution anchors the track in the contemporary Latin American club ecosystem, adding rhythmic urgency and a sense of forward motion that complements Muniz’s refined yet emotionally charged production style. Together, the pairing avoids nostalgia, instead reworking hi-NRG’s intensity through a modern, globally attuned lens.
More than a standalone release, Freeze positions Joyce Muniz as a conduit between scenes, histories and communities – using dance music not just as escapism, but as expression. With the second EP instalment still to come, this first release sets a clear tone: bold, inclusive and rooted in lived experience.
