Lennikim: French-Canadian artist releases sultry single, ‘Bad News’
Lennikim

French-Canadian artist Lennikim has revealed his latest single, ‘Bad News’, ahead of his upcoming EP, which will be his first independently-released record.
Fierce and catchy, Bad News is a tongue-in-cheek response to the learning curve of early romantic encounters that many of us experience. The track sees Lennikim reflecting on his younger self, finding humor in his past experiences.
Sharing more, Lennikim said: “A couple of years ago, when I wrote Bad News, I didn’t have much experience with dating, sex, or romance—which also meant I didn’t know how to avoid shitty situationships. I wrote the song from the perspective of the men I used to date, the ones with intimacy issues, without realizing I might’ve had those same struggles myself.
Growing up in the public eye, I’ve come to see how it shaped my personal life for a while, complicating my relationship with intimacy. I chose to laugh about it in Bad News and turn it into a fun pop track you can shake your ass to! It feels like pure joy to me, especially now that I’ve discovered a whole new sense of freedom in my music as an independent artist.”
At just 23 years old, Montreal-based Lennikim has already covered a lot of ground. After revealing his exceptional vocal talent at age 13, his teenage years were a whirlwind of opportunities. From signing with a major label to touring Europe and appearing on Dancing With The Stars, the singer-songwriter captivated a loyal fanbase and garnered much acclaim.
More recently, however, Lennikim has truly found himself. Since embarking on his journey as an independent artist, he’s finally been able to open up about his sexuality and step forward as his authentic self—something he was previously not allowed to do. Last year, he performed at Montreal Pride, which was a huge milestone in his journey and one that a younger Lennikim would have found hard to believe could be possible!
This newfound freedom has shaped his new material into a powerful mix of honest lyricism, alluring melodies, and enticing beats. After the sultry addition of ‘Bad News’, we can’t wait to see what his upcoming EP has in store!
