Myke Towers FAULT Magazine Cover and Interview

Myke Towers

Fans of superstar Myke Towers have been long gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, La Pantera Negra. With the release of his latest single, “La Primera Vez” featuring NTG, Towers continues to push the boundaries of Latin urban music by blending sensual R&B with trap rhythms. We caught up with Myke Towers to discuss his music, his process and of course, his FAULTs.

Myke Towers

FAULT Magazine: Your upcoming album is highly anticipated. How does your single “ADIVINO” set the tone for what fans can expect from the new project?

Myke Towers: I am ready for my fans to experience an elevated, more experienced version of Myke Towers. “ADIVINO” with Bad Bunny is more than a song; it speaks to the power that comes when two Puerto Rican titans join forces. On the song, we each kept our styles and essence, but together we made a banger. My upcoming album has a lot of variety in styles and genres, which I know my fans will appreciate.

FAULT Magazine: Has your process shifted this album compared to previous releases?

Myke Towers: My approach always stays the same—I am constantly working on my craft, always making music wherever I go. My producer and engineer travel with me everywhere, which allows me to draw inspiration from all over the world. That being said, for the selection process of the songs that made the album, I typically rely on friends and family, and I like to see their reactions to different songs. That helps me cater my music better to my fans.

FAULT Magazine: What’s one message you hope listeners take away from the record?

Myke Towers: The message I hope they take away from this album is that they consider this my best piece of work. And that anyone can be the best version of themselves if they just work hard and always put their best foot forward.

FAULT Magazine: You’ve just announced your new tour—what is one of your most memorable tour stories?

Myke Towers: It’s hard to pinpoint a single moment during any of the tours that I’ve done. Every night is special on stage—whether it is seeing my core fans singing every single lyric to my songs, or younger generations dancing and singing along to the chorus, or even their parents and family members who also come to my shows, vibing out to my music. From the stage, it all looks very different than when you’re in the audience, and I love seeing each and every individual face.

FAULT Magazine: You’ve been nominated for several Latin American Music Awards this year. Do you take time to reflect on the success of your career, or does it pass by in a blur?

Myke Towers: I treat every day as another day at the office, whether that is a video shoot, award show, studio session, or show. I keep a very humble attitude towards my success—while I do recognize it and appreciate it, at the end of the day, I have to thank my fans for helping me get that recognition.

FAULT Magazine: Latin urban music continues to gain global popularity. How do you see the genre evolving in the next few years, and what role do you hope to play in that evolution?

Myke Towers: I think it’s going to become more and more relevant, and the consumption is going to only increase. I hope to continue making great music with genre-bending style and start bridging the gap between Latin Urban music and the global music landscape by collaborating with other global superstars.

FAULT Magazine: What challenges are you currently facing in the music industry, and how have you overcome them to achieve your current success?

Myke Towers: I think one thing I struggle with is the consistent use of social media to promote my music, as well as short-form content. I know that is what drives consumption, and the correlation between how often I post on my Instagram and my streams increasing is very obvious. I am still learning how to make the most use of my social media platforms, and I know that a new one will always pop up out of nowhere.

FAULT Magazine: Looking back at your musical journey, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Myke Towers: I would tell myself that it is extremely important to remain focused and keep your feet on the ground. Aside from that, surround yourself with good people who want to see you succeed and do what is best for your career, and help you become the best version of yourself.

FAULT Magazine: What is your FAULT?

Myke Towers: I’d say my personal flaw would be my obsession with Oreo cookies.
