Neon, action in the best style of Kill Bill, a message of victory, great music, and even a change of look in the middle of a fight: that and more is what alice the g00n offers in her latest video release. This rebellious and unique artist has not only created another danceable anthem, but she has confirmed her personal signature is to craft entire universes for listeners to explore through her music.
A couple of months ago, ‘CYA‘ was released. That production – her debut single – immediately catapulted her into success. Her first ever release got her into the Mediabase Top 40 Pop chart for 14 weeks, and reached the #2 spot on the Mediabase Top 40 Pop Independent Artists Rankings. ‘CYA’ also represented the first chapter of a cinematographical production, in which we see Alice begin her violent journey out of corporate hell, opening her own way until successfully escaping.
In Chapter Two, as the curtain rises on ‘In Time‘, Alice continues her journey in a Volkswagen Beetle. Clearly, this is not your average pop video. alice the g00n, who directed, produced, and was involved in every aspect of the video’s creation, presents a new scene of an intriguing action film, driven by the energy of her voice and the power of EDM and pop. Her creative choices are never obvious, resulting in a taut, frenetic, and darkly hilarious piece. Subtitled ‘The Road Trip From Hell,” viewers follow Alice on a satisfyingly bloodthirsty road trip. After succeeding in the battle of the previous chapter, Alice soon ends up caught in a knife fight inside a moving vehicle.
Frank Trigg, a former UFC Welterweight contender with credits in The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and Barry, is the piece’s formidable villain. His imposing character seems like an impassable obstacle, but alice the g00n prevails in an intense battle in the most claustrophobic of spaces. Trigg himself was surprised with the final result, saying that Alice “projects her own completely distinctive style, with almost no film-making experience. It’s an episodic action movie – a silent movie – but alice the g00n made some bizarre and interesting choices that flipped a music video into an exciting short.”
alice the g00n’s creative vision relies on two main factors. Firstly, she uses lighting to highlight details. Her use of light dramatically affects the way in which we view background scenery. That is why the setting changes from a natural and peaceful natural outdoors to a tunnel inside a mountain. The fantastical lighting works as a portal to a mystical world. Secondly, her obsession with perfecting the correct frames, cuts, and, essentially, every little detail in the footage is what sets this video apart. All the angles and transitions are carefully put together to make sure the action flows with an almost clockwork precision.
As the final frames flicker, alice the g00n remains victorious despite the challenges. But there is still an enigma present, where will she go next? As we wait for the next chapter of this engaging story, you can take a ride next to alice the g00n and go with her out of hell.
