Nike x Jacquemus – Manu Rios, Serena Williams, Central Cee in a Fusion of Culture and Style
Nike x Jacquemus
Nike x Jacquemus have unveiled their much-anticipated Summer 2024 collection, marking their third collaboration that seamlessly blends sport and fashion. Launching on July 10 at jacquemus.com and Jacquemus retail stores, with a broader release on Nike platforms starting July 23, this collection is a vibrant celebration of Paris and the athletic prowess of Nike’s global athletes.
At the heart of this collection lies a dynamic campaign film, “J’aime Paris,” directed by Simon Porte Jacquemus himself. This short film, marking Jacquemus’ directorial debut, features a star-studded cast including Manu Rios, Serena Williams, Central Cee, and Juliette Binoche. Set against the romantic and artistic backdrop of Paris, the film captures the essence of the city and its unique blend of sport, fashion, and culture.
The collection comprises 10 lifestyle pieces, including reimagined tracksuits, statement bras, long skirts, and T-shirts. Each item embodies Jacquemus’ signature effortless style, with a nod to the red, white, blue, and silver color palette that pays homage to Jacquemus’ French roots. Notably, the collection introduces the Nike x Jacquemus Air Max 1, a bold reinterpretation of the classic Nike Air Max with a rounded, cubist Air unit.
In addition to the standout footwear, the now-iconic Le Swoosh bag returns in three new colours, available for the first time at select Nike retail outlets. This accessory, a perfect blend of Nike’s trademark style and Jacquemus’ visionary design, is set to become a must-have for fashion-forward individuals this summer.
Jacquemus drew inspiration from the everyday beauty of Paris and the athletic prowess of Nike’s roster. He describes the collection as “a mix of sport, fashion and culture in the most beautiful city in the world, where Nike athletes will take centre stage this summer.” This sentiment is perfectly captured in the whimsical scenes of the campaign film, from canoeing in a fountain to playing football in a restaurant, showcasing Jacquemus’ unique creative approach.
The collaboration also aligns perfectly with the upcoming Paris Olympics, further highlighting the cultural and sporting significance of the collection. As Jacquemus explains, “When in Paris, the world simply feels different: more romantic, artistic, and beautiful.” This collection is indeed an ode to the city he adores, drawing out all he loves about Paris and translating those inspirations into fashion-forward pieces.
Nike and Jacquemus first joined forces in 2022, creating elevated silhouettes inspired by vintage ACG and ’90s Nike campaigns. Their subsequent collaborations, such as the 2023 J Force 1, solidified their synergy, offering pieces that transition effortlessly from art museums to urban landscapes. The Spring 2024 collection debuted the Le Swoosh bag, encapsulating the essence of Nike through Jacquemus’ visionary lens.
The Summer 2024 Nike x Jacquemus collection is set to redefine athletic fashion, celebrating the dynamic intersection of sport, fashion, and culture. Available on jacquemus.com and Jacquemus retail stores from July 10, with a broader release on Nike platforms starting July 23, this collaboration is an unmissable testament to the power of partnership and the enduring allure of Paris.
