Alinka Drops ‘Dance Like Nobody’s Watching’ EP out now on Gudu Records
Berlin-based DJ and producer Alinka has dropped a four-track EP titled Dance Like Nobody’s Watching, released on Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records. Following her contribution to Gudu & Friends Vol. 2, Alinka’s formal debut EP on the label is a welcomed addition to our summer dance playlist.
Born in Kyiv and nurtured in the house music mecca of Chicago, she absorbed the rich heritage of both cities. During the 2000s, she became a fixture at the legendary Smartbar in Chicago, serving as a resident at Justin Long’s .Dotbleep party. This period honed her skills and expanded her understanding of dancefloor dynamics. In 2012, she co-founded Twirl with Shaun J. Wright, a party series and label that has featured notable artists like Spencer Parker and Kim Ann Foxman.
Now residing in Berlin (sames) , her first full EP for Gudu is a showcase of her lean production style. Each track on Dance Like Nobody’s Watching reflects her extensive experience and deep understanding of what makes people move. I was unable to sit through the project without dancing at my desk and wishing I was listening to this live at 4am with a massive smile on my face. The precision with which these tracks are crafted speaks to her extensive experience as a DJ, ensuring that every beat and melody serves the dancefloor.
The Tracks: Precision-Tooled for the Dancefloor
Alinka describes her EP as a special project created specifically for Gudu Records. “Peggy Gou and I met years ago at Panorama Bar in Berlin and had the best time. I’ve been a fan of her music since the start. We share a common love for house music, so when she asked me to make music for Gudu, I was really honored and excited. I wrote these tracks just for her and the label, so it’s a very special project for me, and the music means a lot to me,” she explains. The EP is an homage to the timeless Chicago sound that shaped her life, designed to make listeners close their eyes and dance with abandon.
