‘What Do You Believe In?
‘What Do You Believe In?’ is the latest single release from multi-platinum UK blues vocalist Rag’n’Bone Man (aka Rory Charles Graham). An early teaser for his highly anticipated third studio album, expected later this year, ‘What Do You Believe In?’ showcases Rag’n’Bone Man’s evolving style. Alongside his customary blues vocals and soulful melodies, the track seamlessly blends in elements of 00s hip-hop – an homage to a genre the artist acknowledges as having a significant influence on his career to date.
With its poignant lyrics, touched by grief, Rag’n’Bone plumbs the depths of loss, fatherhood, and the search for meaning in the face of life’s sometimes overwhelming challenges.
Reflecting on his inspiration for the track, Rory said:
“I wrote this after losing someone close. Now, having to explain something like that to your child is a bit weird. I’ve never been involved with religion, but the question you get asked is: where do people go? And that’s what the song is about. It doesn’t really matter what people believe in, you can believe that they’ve gone to a better place.”
Rag’n’Bone Man
Rag’n’Bone Man’s debut album, Human [2016], was the fastest selling male debut album of its decade. Since then, it’s gone platinum four times in the UK and multi-platinum in 27 other countries around the world. 2021’s Life By Misadventure continued that success as the fastest-selling album of that year and spending seven weeks at number one. This year, as speculation builds about his new release, ‘What Do You Believe In?’ signposts Rag’n’Bone Man’s growing musical versatility. With his trademark vocal power and emotional depth, the single marries authentic personal experience with a newfound creative experimentation – all of which suggests exciting things to come in the very near future.
