Ayo Edebiri Irish!? How Ayo Edebiri Became the Queen of St. Patrick’s Day
There’s a new queen in town, and her name is Ayo Edebiri. Yes, you read that right! If you were scrolling social media over the weekend, you’ve likely noticed Ayo Edebiri trending throughout St. Patrick’s Day 2024 (yesterday). But why? Well, let’s take a whimsical journey into the land of shamrocks and shenanigans to find out.
Ayo Edebiri, known for her roles in “Bottoms” and “The Bear,”…Check out our coverstory with star Jeremy Allen White…has been making waves not just on the big screen, but also across the Emerald Isle itself. How did this Boston-born actor find herself crowned as Ireland’s sweetheart? It’s a tale as charming as a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
It all started back in March 2023 when Edebiri, in her characteristic wit and charm, provided the amazing clip above. From there, it was as if the luck of the Irish had been bestowed upon her, with accolades and adoration following suit.
But why the sudden affinity for all things Irish? Well, it seems Edebiri decided to play a little game of make-believe, jokingly claiming Irish heritage during interviews and award speeches. The internet, always ready for a good laugh, gleefully played along, dubbing her “Ireland’s own” and showering her with shamrock emojis and well wishes.
From shouting out Irish cities like Derry and Cork during award ceremonies to donning a shamrock shirt on Saturday Night Live, Edebiri has fully embraced her newfound Irish identity, much to the delight of fans both near and far.
As with all good things, it’s only a matter of time before someone takes the joke too far, spoils the fun and no doubt forgets to highlight all the amazing talents currently killing it in the industry but until then, we had a good laugh this weekend!
