Rising Star AKICITA Reclaims Her Power Through Music

Meet AKICITA, a rising star of Dominican and Native American heritage who is set to make waves with her new single, ‘FWMN.’ This dark-pop anthem is a testament to her unwavering determination and strength, as she declares her intention to conquer any obstacles in her path.

‘FWMN’ is more than just a song; it’s a cathartic release of angst and insecurity, a battle cry for anyone who has faced adversity. AKICITA’s voice soars to new heights in this track, showcasing her extraordinary talent. The lyrics are a testament to her resilience: “Who thought I’d burn brighter, brighter than this town?” The song was co-written with producer Ben Wylen, and it’s a powerful collaboration that sets the stage for her upcoming debut EP.

In her own words, AKICITA explains the meaning behind ‘FWMN’: “This song is about reclaiming my power. No hesitation, no apologies. It’s my warrior anthem song. I’m allowing myself to feel empowered by all the struggles I’ve overcome and still do to this day. No one else fought for me. No one else ever will fight for me. I did this. And I AM doing this. I’m fighting for my life every day, and every day that I’m still here, I’ve won another battle.”

Raised in the small town of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and on the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux reservation, traumatic events disrupted her home life, leading her to escape to various boarding schools, where she endured further abuse. Her determination to break free led her to Los Angeles at the age of 18, where she embarked on her musical career.

The road to success wasn’t easy. With no industry connections or insider knowledge, AKICITA faced numerous challenges. She found herself immersed in a party culture, struggling to fit in, and grappling with addiction, a battle she candidly explores in her recent track, ‘Liquor.’ Despite these hardships, AKICITA eventually got back on track.

AKICITA’s journey is a testament to her resilience, determination, and unwavering belief in herself. She has risen above adversity and used her music as a powerful tool for self-expression and healing. ‘FWMN’ is not just a song; it’s a declaration of her strength and an anthem for anyone fighting their battles. As AKICITA continues to pave her way in the music industry, her story serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that we have the power to reclaim our own narrative and triumph over life’s challenges.
