NAACP Image Awards 2023: Angela Bassett & Abbot Elementary did the thing!
The NAACP Image Awards is a prestigious annual event that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of African Americans in various fields of entertainment and culture. The 54th edition of the NAACP Image Awards was held last night and this year’s ceremony honored some of the biggest names in music, television, and film, and celebrated the diversity of talent in these industries.
Entertainer of the Year was awarded to Angela Bassett (who it’s rumours “did the thing”, who has made a remarkable contribution to the entertainment industry throughout her career. The Best Motion Picture Award went to “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which was a critical and commercial success. Will Smith was named the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in “Emancipation,” while Viola Davis won the Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of a warrior queen in “The Woman King.”

The winners in the television category were also recognized for their exceptional performances. The Outstanding Comedy Series was awarded to “Abbott Elementary,” while the Outstanding Drama Series went to “P-Valley.” The Best Television Movie Award was presented to “The Best Man: The Final Chapters,” which was a powerful and thought-provoking drama.
The NAACP Image Awards have become an important platform for promoting diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. It must be said that this year felt like the strongest we’ve seen for many years.
