Ha Vay doesn’t just write songs – she conjures worlds. With a voice that shifts from a delicate whisper to a visceral wail, the rising indie folk artist is weaving a sonic universe built on tension, tenderness, and transformation. It’s no surprise that her music feels like it belongs in the final scene of a film you can’t stop thinking about.

The ethereal indie folk artist has become something of a modern mystic, drawing listeners into a dreamlike realm of cinematic soundscapes, poetic confessions, and raw emotion. Gentle, wild, and hauntingly precise, her music feels like a secret spell whispered in the dark: intimate, dramatic, and undeniably powerful.

Ha Vay’s artistry is rooted in world-building. Her 2023 debut album Baby I’m The Wolf, released alongside a self-directed 45-minute visual film, positioned her as one of the most inventive new voices in indie. The project was a critical and fan favorite – selling out multiple limited-edition vinyl runs (including Urban Outfitters’ 500-copy exclusive), landing on NPR’s Ann Powers’ Top Albums of 2024, and earning Ha Vay a cult-like following drawn to her immersive blend of storytelling and spectacle. Think Stevie Nicks meets Mazzy Star with a wink of Lana Del Rey.

Her latest single ‘Blush’ is no exception. Lush with velvety strings and brimming with simmering tension, the track captures the intoxicating thrill of a love that refuses to stay hidden. “Every secret affair becomes a worst-kept secret,” she says. “You cannot hide it forever.” It’s a fitting sentiment from an artist whose own mystique is increasingly difficult to ignore.

This summer, Ha Vay invites fans deeper into her world as she embarks on The Spellbound Tour – her first North American headline run. With stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Washington, D.C., and a major slot at San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival supporting Phantogram (performing for an audience of over 10,000), the tour promises not just a series of shows, but a full-scale immersion into the Ha Vay universe. Fans can also expect previews of her next album, the follow-up to Baby I’m The Wolf, as she begins to peel back the curtain on her evolving sound.

Though she’s only been releasing music for two years, Ha Vay’s impact is already undeniable. With over 12 million streams on her debut album and an additional 4 million on her debut EP Avalanches and Unfamiliar Ways to Die, she’s quietly become a defining voice in the new wave of gothic-leaning indie folk.

A master of conjuring beauty from the melancholic, Ha Vay is more than just an artist to watch – she’s one to get lost in.
