The first annual WWD (Womenswear Daily) Style Awards were held during Golden Globes weekend, and let me tell you…the style icons were OUT and DRESSED. I personally loved how many different kinds of ‘fashion people’ were included – from reality-star royalty like Lisa Rinna and Jonathan Van Ness, to iconic television and movie stars, and many of Hollywood’s most famous cosmetologists (Yes, I did get to meet Kim Kardashian’s legendary hair stylist Chris Appleton), I really got to see how far a love for fashion spans throughout the entertainment industry.

Jonathan Van Ness in a colorful look – white two-piece set with a rainbow pattern in the middle of the pants and shirt by Harbison on the red carpet.

Chris Appleton in a black and white tuxedo on the red carpet.
Lisa Rinna in an SS25 OTR Look by Wiederhoefy – a full-length, long-sleeve white gown complete with lace and crystals all over on the red carpet.

My favorite look of the night was worn by Tracee Ellis Ross, who was being honored as WWD’s ‘Fashion Trailblazer.” She wore Alaïa – a look that she shared was from her personal closet, rather than being sourced for the event (I told her she was sustainable queen for that choice). I loved how much of a statement it was – a black, skintight jumpsuit with silver grommits all over. Paired with a rectangular white bag, and black heels (that featured a clear middle), it felt like the perfect “fashion icon” look that also looked incredibly comfortable…which to me always feels like the best combination. I also loved that she chose Alaïa – a legacy fashion house of course, but also a designer that people in the fashion industry cannot stop talking about. Not only was Tracee’s outfit spectacular, so was chatting with her. FAULT was able to ask the Hollywood legend what her FAULT was – and the answer didn’t disappoint. I would be remiss to not mention another spectacular look of the night – one of the latest Golden Globe winners and WWD’s “Fashion Newcomer” winner – Anna Sawai’s blue, two-piece Louis Vuitton look (styled by her stylist Karla Welch, who was a presenter). This look’s silhouette felt so “cool” in the best of ways  – it had that FAULTless flow all the way down, and the mid-length sleeves (draped almost as cylinders), were breathtaking. I loved how simple the look felt – like anyone could feel good in it – but high-fashion the tailoring and shape was so elite (not that I expect anything less from Louis Vuitton). We also got to chat with Ana about how to NOT make fashion FAULTs, and she gave some great advice, so make sure to check that out here.

Overall, I was incredibly impressed by WWD’s first-ever Style Awards. I thought they chose honorees who clearly love fashion, have a strong sense of personal style, and all have unique careers. Also, I really loved how excited everyone was to be there. All of the talent was so excited to talk with me about their love of fashion, and showing off their looks. Many of them even opened up beyond the fashion, and shared their FAULTs – which who doesn’t love a fashion icon AND authentic and honest celebrity mixed into one?!

Congratulations to all involved, and FAULT is already excited for next year’s looks – WDD Style Awards, you were FAULTless!
