The 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards were FAULTless
FAULT had the privilege of attending the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs), an event dedicated to honouring original music created for visual media. This year’s ceremony was truly extraordinary, uniting some of the brightest minds in entertainment to celebrate the integral role music plays on screen. The atmosphere was electric, with musical legends in attendance alongside stirring performances from some of the year’s most beloved shows and films. Among the highlights were Clément Ducol and Camille Dalmais delivering a mesmerising rendition of El Mal from Emilia Pérez, and Sean Douglas enchanting the audience with Harper and Will Go West from Harper and Will Go West.
The diversity of performances was especially noteworthy, encompassing everything from heartfelt ballads to high-energy pop numbers. This year’s HMMAs felt like a snapshot of the many unique stories told through music in 2024—a testament to the boundless creativity within the industry.

As I wrote above, the night included many music greats. One of them included the HMMA’s 2024 Achievement Winner: Bernie Taupin. Amongst other incredible work, Taupin is extremely well-known for being Elton John’s long-time collaborator, having partnered on most of Elton’s work through the years. Perhaps what felt even more fitting is that Taupin took home the “Best Song in a Documentary Film” award for a song in the Elton John documentary released this year – “Never Too Late” from Elton John: Never Too Late, which was written by Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Bernie Taupin, and Andrew Watt, then performed by Elton John & Brandi Carlile. How fun to see Taupin continuing his legacy in real time.

A recently released film did quite well at the HMMAs – taking home the most project wins with three awards: Emilia Pérez. The project won the following, and made me wonder if this is foreshadowing for some Oscar’s success (as the HMMAs is known as an excellent predictor): Best Song – Onscreen Performance in a Film: Zoe Saldana – “El Mal”, Best Score – Feature Film: Emilia Pérez – Clément Ducol & Camille, Best Music Themed Film, Biopic or Musical – Emilia Pérez – Directed by Jacques Audiard. Produced by Jacques Audiard, Pascal Caucheteux, Valérie Schermann, Anthony Vaccarello Congratulations to Emilia Pérez!
I also want to mention that the event didn’t stop at the ceremony – the HMMAs hosted a music-filled after party, with performances by Alexander James Rodriguez and Jordan DeTiege. The artists brought incredible energy to the crowd, both of which are young individuals who have a very bright future ahead in music.

FAULT extends heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. It was a night filled with artistry, achievement, and music—a truly FAULTless evening!
