Teen Vogue Summit 2024 : Where Fashion Met Authenticity and Opportunity
Teen Vogue Summit 2024
Teen Vogue Summit might be THE fashion event of the year in Los Angeles. I can’t imagine not going next year. And the year after. And the year after that. (Actually, when is one too old to attend?)
Not only was the Summit incredibly thought-provoking and celebrity-filled, it was something that fashion is often not: accessible. For $55, attendees experienced being inches away from The Summer I Turned Pretty cast, heard performances from Latto and Laufey, learned about Alex Consani’s modelling career, got style advice from Law Roach, had the opportunity to network with Teen Vogue staff, learned about Demi Lovato’s latest career moves AND attended thought-provoking panels about the state of the world and politics today – and these are just some of the incredible experiences offered.
As I sat through the panels, one word resonated deeply: authenticity. Each session, thoughtfully hosted by the Teen Vogue editors, unfolded with genuine insight and meaningful dialogue. I was particularly impressed with Alex Consani’s session, as she spoke about how important trans women’s rights are, how she refuses to give into the “mysterious model” stereotype, and how people need to know when a “no is actually a yes.” I also appreciated FAULT Magazine Alumn Demi Lovato’s panel with Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Versha Sharma, where Demi candidly shared how her experiences as a child actor have deeply affected her, now taking on many jobs that are behind the camera. Although the day was fashion-themed, each panel dove much deeper than trends or outfits.
The other unexpected, but incredibly thoughtful part of the event was the ‘Networking Corner’, where any attendee could meet accomplished professionals in fashion (and adjacent) industries. I saw people of all ages with their resumes, conversing with executives who were genuinely happy to mentor, guide, and of course – recruit the best upcoming talent. Some of the executives included Rare Beauty’s C-Suite – Katie Welch (Chief Marketing Officer) and Anita Punjabi (Head of People and Culture). Where else could you get 1:1 time with leadership from one of the most successful cosmetics companies in the world? I was so impressed with how straightforward and kind this experience seemed, particularly as the job market looms over so many teenagers and young adults today (and, as commonly known, people often have no idea how to actually get a job in fashion).
It was a masterclass in capturing the spirit of a generation—fearlessly multi-faceted and unapologetically authentic. At the Teen Vogue Summit 2024, fashion wasn’t confined to one definition but celebrated as a canvas for identity, ambition, and change. As I walked away, one thought lingered: the experience wasn’t just inspiring—it was FAULTLess. I’m already counting down the days til the next year!
