Fiaa Hamilton In Conversation With FAULT Magazine

Fiaa Hamilton and her Genre-Bending Sound and Storytelling

Fiaa Hamilton

Fiaa Hamilton is turning heads with her FAULTLess genre-blending approach and emotionally rich songwriting. From her TikTok breakthrough to her latest single ‘Rivers In The Night’, Fiaa has made waves with her unique mix of electro-pop infused with a hint of country. But it’s not just her sound that captivates audiences—Fiaa’s life story, marked by resilience and perseverance, shines through in every lyric she writes. We caught up with Fiaa to discuss her music, writing and of course, her FAULTs.

FAULT Magazine: Your latest single ‘Rivers In The Night’ blends electro-pop with a touch of country. What inspired this fusion of genres, and how does it reflect your artistic evolution?

Fiaa Hamilton: Ah yay, I love that you hear that! I went to Nashville and became obsessed with singing country, but I still wanted to give that electro-pop feel that runs through most of my songs… and then Rivers In The Night was born! I also take a lot of inspo from Mark Ronson and feel this track showcases that a lot.

FAULT Magazine: The message in ‘Rivers In The Night’ is about taking risks and following your heart, even in challenging times. What personal experiences influenced this theme?

Fiaa Hamilton: It’s all I have ever done, and I am a girl that should not typically achieve. I’ve experienced so much in my life—I was in foster care, I took the wrong routes, I grew up extremely poor, and I was a young carer for my mum. I truly shouldn’t even have the chance to chase my dreams, but I took the risk. I knew that my purpose in life was self-discovery and breaking through fear. My go-get-it energy is paying off, and I’m helping others learn to do it too!

FAULT Magazine: You’ve described yourself as a storyteller, and your lyrics capture a wide range of emotions and moods. How do you approach songwriting, and what’s your process for turning real-life experiences into music?

Fiaa Hamilton: I always create the track first, then add melody and finally the lyrics and theme. I want the track to have an overall feeling—something deep with a spark that draws people in. The melody is the part people start to remember, and the lyrics are what make them stay and relate.

FAULT Magazine: Your first single, ‘Love War’, made a huge impact on TikTok and the UK music scene. How has that experience shaped your approach to releasing and promoting music as an independent artist?

Fiaa Hamilton: I am so grateful to TikTok! The platform is changing my life. It gives independent artists a place to market their music for free. The app is super clear too and has a music tab for easy access—it’s amazing!

FAULT Magazine: How has your upbringing influenced your perspective and approach to music? Do you find that these experiences are reflected in your songs?

Fiaa Hamilton: Music literally saved me! It gave me purpose, and it’s given me a huge amount of stories to write about.

FAULT Magazine: The making of ‘Rivers In The Night’ seemed to happen at a rapid pace, from writing and recording in London to filming the music video in Nashville. How did that whirlwind creative process come together, and did the quick turnaround affect the final outcome?

Fiaa Hamilton: It was super quick, but the song is about not overthinking and just losing yourself and going for it! So, I just went for it. I wrote the song on the Friday, flew to Nashville by Sunday, filmed the music video, and submitted the song. I just listened to what the supporters wanted and ran with it! I showed them the song after the session, and they wanted it out! They supported me to go and film the video and pushed me to release the song, so I’m grateful to them for their empowerment.

FAULT Magazine: With two singles out now, what’s next for you? Can fans expect an EP or album in the near future, and how would you describe the direction of your upcoming music?

Fiaa Hamilton: I have another single coming out for Halloween on 31st October, and I have at least one more coming out this year after that! Maybe two! I also have a huge idea for live performances, but I’m keeping that hush hush for now!

FAULT Magazine: What is your FAULT?

Fiaa Hamilton: My fault is overthinking—I overthink everything! I need to learn to put less pressure on myself for sure!
