Premiere: Willy Cobb Drops Acoustic ‘Sincerely FU’ – A Raw Take on Country Punk
Willy Cobb is back with a fresh take on one of his standout tracks, releasing an acoustic version of “Sincerely FU” recorded at the iconic Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville. Known for his genre-defying style that blends country storytelling with punk energy, Cobb strips down the boisterous original to its emotional core, delivering a performance that’s both haunting and compelling.
Inspired by the classic MTV Unplugged sessions, Cobb captures the intimate atmosphere of his live performances. “I always was obsessed with MTV Unplugged growing up,” Cobb explains. “Some of the best artists of all-time have done it, like Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain. Also, when I was growing up, I never did an electric show; it was always acoustic guitars by the campfire, so I wanted to encapsulate those two things at once with the sessions at Sound Emporium.”
This acoustic version of “Sincerely FU” translates his FAULTLess blend of southern grit and punk edge into a more vulnerable, yet still defiant, soundscape.
His debut EP ‘Country Punkin’’—now available in an extended version—has already made waves with its mix of ragged punk energy and country roots, drawing comparisons to icons like Nirvana and Hank Williams. It’s music for the bold, outsiders who embrace their flaws and refuse to fit into a single mold.
With tours alongside The Cadillac Three and Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett under his belt, Cobb is carving out a niche all his own.
