Ruti Breathes New Life into Music in Haunting EP “Lungs”

Singer-songwriter Ruti is back to captivate audiences with her new EP, Lungs. Known for her enchanting blend of R&B, pop, and jazz, Ruti opten transcends genres and this projects promises to be no different. The EP, released via PMR Records, features two brand new singles, a cover of “Everybody Wants To Rule the World,” and the evocative title track, “Lungs.”

The title track, “Lungs,” is a standout haunting ballad adorned with piano and string accompaniment but lead by Ruti’s hypnotic vocal. With her enchanting lyrics “you might as well take my lungs away, because I can’t breathe around you anyway” crooned atop a simple piano showcases Ruti’s vast creative range. Truly – ‘Lungs’ is breathing new life into the UK music scene.

Reflecting on the creation of the title track, Ruti shared, “I’ve actually been holding onto ‘Lungs’ for a little while. Looking back, I think I was a bit scared about how raw the emotion was, especially coming from the very small period of my life that inspired the song.” She describes the anxiety and panic attacks she experienced during that time, which are poignantly captured in the line, “you might as well take my lungs away, cos I can’t breathe around you anyway.” This intense vulnerability, combined with the cinematic strings played by Davide Rossi and the haunting visuals filmed at St John the Baptist’s in Shepherds Bush, makes “Lungs” a powerful and deeply personal piece.

The EP campaign kicked off in January with the release of the first single, “Bubblehouse Bounce (move as one),” followed by “Don’t Make A Sound.” These FAULTLess offerings garnered praise from fans and critics alike.

The tracklist for Lungs includes:

  1. Bubblehouse Bounce (move as one)
  2. Don’t Make A Sound
