Once home to Lisbon’s hardworking tradesmen, Vila Rodrigues has been lovingly brought back to life by Francesca Saponaro and Sam Coltart, a design-savvy duo with a passion for cultural immersion. Their vision, brought to life with the help of renowned Lisbon design studio Cavalcanti, seamlessly blends traditional Portuguese aesthetics with modern functionality. Think clean lines, natural materials, and ratan all creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Choosing the train from the airport was our go-to move – even though Bolt is budget-friendly, we wanted to immerse ourselves in the city right away. With a ticket cost of less than 2 euros and a journey under 40 minutes, the decision paid off. Stepping off at Intendente station, the neighbourhood didn’t win any beauty contests, but locating the Vila was a breeze. We would soon be very appreciative of having a nearby gym, several supermarkets, pharmacies, and restaurants within walking distance, even if they weren’t the most Instagram-worthy spots.
Unforgettable Hospitality: The Vila Rodrigues Experience
Arriving at Vila Rodrigues we were met by Bruno the Reception Manager. He took us through all the amenities and explain the keyless access as well as how everything works. It should be noted that even before our stay, Bruno had provided us with check-in instructions, a contact number in case we needed anything and kept in regular contact over email to make sure our stay went as smooth as possible. It was clear that Vila Rodrigues places the comfort of their guests as a top priority. We can’t commend the staff on the ground more for their attentiveness throughout the whole experience.

Entering the grounds was picture perfect. With twelve options to choose from, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to spacious three-bedroom homes and even a penthouse, there’s something for every traveler. Each room tells its own story. Adorned with locally sourced materials and thoughtful touches that make you feel instantly at home. Our apartment was wonderfully decorated. They provided us with all that we would need even down to coffee, salt and pepper, cooking oil and even a complimentary bottle of wine. The apartment also had a washerdryer and they provides us with washing detergent – they have truly thought of everything.
Things to do near Vila Rodrigues Lisbon
While we were originally unsure of the location, we found it the perfect jumping off point for many of the best natural wine bars, vintage clothing stores and restaurants in the city. While located right in the hustle of bustle of the city, our little gated neighbourhood was tranquil at all times.
