Gamebox Squid Game Review: Immersive Game-Night For Fans Of The Netflix Hit
Gamebox Squid Game Review
If you’re a fan of Netflix’s Squid Game and love immersive gaming experiences, Immersive Gamebox has something special for you. We recently had the chance to attend one of their events in Berlin, it was an nailbiting adrenaline and fun.
Immersive Gamebox, founded in 2018 by Will Dean, the co-founder of Tough Mudder, has become a sensation in the gaming world. With 30 sites worldwide, the company has just announced a global competition that aligns with the launch of Netflix’s, Squid Games: The Challenge.
The Challenge: Gaming for a Trip to Vegas
Between November 22 and December 13, 2023, players at Immersive Gamebox locations globally will have the opportunity to enter a competition with a grand prize – a trip for two to Las Vegas. All you need to do is play the Squid Game at any of their 27 sites and share your score on Instagram with #GAMEBOXCHALLENGE. The highest scorer secures the trip to the gaming capital of the world, while the next four runners-up will take home $200 in cash.
The timing of this competition couldn’t be better, as Immersive Gamebox celebrates its 1 millionth player since its launch in 2018. This milestone emphasises the growing popularity of immersive group gaming experiences, and the addition of Squid Game to their library last year has only fuelled the excitement.
As we stepped into the reality game room in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz, we weren’t quite sure what to expect but were down for whatever the game threw out way. Four of us, adults with different gaming backgrounds, found the game to be intuitive and a lot of fun. While nothing can truly compare to the life-or-death scenarios of the Squid Game on Netflix, Immersive Gamebox came remarkably close…in our minds at least.
All games take place on three interactive screens and while one did stop working for one of the games, are for the most part quite intuitive. Controlling your player with a special made hat, your manoeuvre and strategies your way through a number of tasks shown in the show.
The challenges were immersive, and as fans of the show, we appreciated the effort put into recreating the tension and excitement. The game lasted an hour, which felt like the perfect amount of time to fully enjoy the experience without becoming too exhausted.
Netflix’s Squid Games: The Challenge gives viewers a taste of the intense challenges faced by contestants in the Squid Game series. Immersive Gamebox took this concept and brought it to life in a gaming format. Once inside the game room, we were suddenly transported to a brand new world as all four walls lit up with bright lights and cgi graphics.
Noah Geelan, Senior Vice President of Content at Immersive Gamebox, explained, “Fans of the show will find themselves immersed in a nail-biting sequence of tasks that will push them to lean on each other’s strengths and companionship for survival.”
As we look forward to the expansion of Immersive Gamebox to Australia next month, it’s clear that the world of immersive group gaming is on the rise. If you’re a Squid Game enthusiast or simply someone looking for a unique and thrilling gaming experience, Immersive Gamebox should be on your radar.
To conclude this Gamebox Squid Game Review, the evening was a fantastic journey into the world of Squid Game, and the global competition to win a trip to Las Vegas adds an extra layer of excitement. While nothing can compare to the near-death (sometimes actual death) of the show, we came, we saw, scored awfully and won’t be going to Las Vegas, but an awesome night was had by all.
