In the ever-evolving landscape of entertainment, Niki stands as a beacon of magnetic charisma, having navigated an extraordinary odyssey through the diverse realms of YouTube stardom, fashion, comedy, acting, and most recently, music. Along this awe-inspiring journey, she has not merely cultivated a devoted following but has indelibly woven her presence into the very fabric of pop culture. From the resounding triumph of her musical compilation, “RUINED MY LIFE,” to her unwavering allegiance to authenticity and an unapologetic commitment to self-expression, Niki graciously invites us into her world—a realm where she fearlessly forges her own path through life’s uncharted waters. With a singular piece of advice, she encourages us to embark on a journey of self-discovery, reminding us that in embracing the unknown, we may just discover our true selves.
Jacquex: Can you tell us more about your fearless approach to living on the edge and taking risks?
Niki: Absolutely! Embracing uncertainty and taking risks is where growth and discovery happen. You see, before my current renaissance, I knew what tomorrow and the following day would look like for me. Now that I’ve broken the very layers that kept me limited, I have become a happier person for myself. Living on the edge is about being present for myself first, making choices that I fully agree with, and not partially feel are right.
Jacquex: You mentioned coming from the YouTube world and finding success at such a young age. Can you elaborate on that journey and how it has shaped your perspective on life and your music?
Niki: My journey in the YouTube world was like stumbling upon a hidden treasure chest. At the age of 18, my twin and I discovered a way to turn our passions into a career that not only gave us financial stability but also introduced us to a massive audience. However, the magnitude of that impact at such a young age was overwhelming. It made me realize the power of influence and the responsibility that comes with it. As I ventured into music, I brought this awareness with me.
The songs in “RUINED MY LIFE” are a testament to my growth and evolution. They represent my journey of self-discovery and vulnerability as I navigate the complexities of fame and identity. It’s an opening up, a shedding of layers, and a way of sharing my most authentic self with the world. I was too young to feel comfortable; I don’t want to know what tomorrow will be. Let spontaneity decide that. Such clarity has been a driving force in my music and life.
Jacquex: You’ve mentioned being the most present you’ve ever been. Can you share more about this newfound mindset and how it’s influencing your creative process?
Niki: Being present is a game-changer. It’s about living in the moment, embracing each experience as it comes, and not dwelling too much on the past or worrying too much about the future. This mindset shift has allowed me to approach my creative process with a fresh perspective. It’s about surrendering to the flow of inspiration, letting the music guide me, and tapping into my raw, unfiltered emotions. I’m not bound by preconceived notions or expectations; I’m free to explore and express myself authentically. It’s an incredibly liberating feeling, and it’s reflected in the music I create.
Jacquex: In your diverse career, from fashion to comedy to music, what currently excites you the most? Is there a specific avenue that you’re eager to explore further?
Niki: Music is definitely at the top of my list. It’s where my heart truly lies. I’ve been writing rhymes and thoughts in my iPhone notes for a while, and when I connected with producers who added melodies to them, it became a beautiful synergy. Writing songs is not just an expression; it’s a form of therapy for me. Performing live, connecting with the audience, and sharing those raw emotions on stage is a whole different experience. But I’m also open to exploring acting as another creative outlet because I have a deep love for storytelling. And of course, vlogging remains a fantastic way for me to express myself and connect with my audience on a personal level.
Jacquex: You’ve mentioned the importance of self-discovery and breaking out of your comfort zone. What advice would you give to people looking to connect with their inner selves and embark on a journey of self-expression?
Niki: It’s crucial to take the time to pause and reflect. I once received advice from a life coach that really resonated with me. They told me to take five days to do what I wanted, not what I had to do. This exercise allowed me to genuinely feel what I was experiencing and to reconnect with myself. Sometimes, we’re on autopilot, and it takes intentional moments of rest and introspection to check in with our emotions and desires. You need to feel yourself to heal yourself, and it’s a powerful starting point for self-expression and self-discovery.
Jacquex: What’s your message to those who may be feeling down or struggling with life’s challenges?
Niki: When I’m feeling down, I find solace in making myself a delicious meal. A nourished body can often set the mind right. And going to bed early can work wonders too. Self-care is essential; it’s like hitting the reset button for your emotions and mental state. So, treat yourself kindly, take a step back when needed, and remember that tough times are temporary. You’ve got the strength to overcome them.
Jacquex: On your YouTube channel, you’ve tackled various identity-related topics. What kind of change do you hope to inspire in society’s perception of these issues?
Niki: I’d love to see a shift in how society views family structures and coming out. The idea that having a family or a child should be a universal and accepted choice regardless of one’s sexual orientation or gender is something I’m passionate about. Coming out should not be a dramatic revelation; it should be a non-issue, just like introducing any partner to your family. I envision a world where love is celebrated in all its forms, and individuals are free to live their lives without judgment or societal expectations.
Jacquex: Who is your dream collaboration in the music industry, and why?
Niki: I’ve always been drawn to the era of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato when they were transitioning into more edgy and mature artists. If I had the chance to collaborate with any of them, it would be an iconic moment. Their artistry and ability to connect with their inner selves resonate with me, and I believe a collaboration would result in something truly special.
Jacquex: Your advice on relationships and friendships emphasizes protecting one’s inner self. Can you elaborate on the importance of setting boundaries and preserving one’s emotional well-being?
Niki: Everyone carries their own baggage and experiences, often unconsciously projecting their issues onto others. It’s crucial to recognize when someone’s actions or words are a reflection of their struggles rather than a true reflection of your worth or value. Setting boundaries and keeping certain aspects of your life private is a way of safeguarding your inner peace.
Jacquex: Do you trust your instincts or your rational mind more when making creative decisions?
Niki: I trust my instincts wholeheartedly. My creative juices flow from my gut, and I’ve learned to embrace and follow that intuition. While rational thinking has its place, it’s often my instinctual, emotional response that leads to the most authentic and groundbreaking creative choices.
Jacquex: Niki, what’s your FAULT?
Niki: I’d have to say my biggest FAULT is that I always want to flirt and have fun. It’s all about savoring life to the fullest and relishing every moment!
