Jacquex: On your agenda for 2023, what is your top priority?
Ariana: A top priority for 2023 is definitely getting a car. I would also love to continue writing more films and developing characters. Recently, I had an amazing time collaborating with directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods on the character Koa, alongside the talented Adam Driver.

Jacquex: Among the various roles you’ve portrayed as an actress/alien, which projects do you find most enjoyable?
Ariana: I have fun with all the genres explored, but comedy stands out the most. Being on a set where the main goal is to make people laugh is an incredible feeling. Additionally, I enjoy anything that involves physical transformations, such as wearing contacts or a wig…

Jacquex: During the production of the film Barbie, what has been your favorite or funniest behind-the-scenes moment?
Ariana: Something crazy happened every day on the set of Barbie! I absolutely loved filming with Margot Robbie and America Ferrera in California. Whether it was shooting scenes in Venice or inside a car, those moments were so much fun. There were days when all the Kens and Barbies were kids together on set, and Greta Gerwig had to bring us back to focus amidst the laughter and chaos! One of the most memorable experiences was seeing Barbie come to life.

Jacquex: Did you grow up playing with Barbie dolls?
Ariana: Definitely! I grew up playing with a lot of Monster High dolls and always integrated them into the Barbie Dream House along with the Barbie car. The Dream House had so many amazing features like an elevator, a campfire, and even a bathtub. I was obsessed with all the details, and merging different doll worlds together was the most enjoyable part. Working on the film was a dream come true as we got to bring many variations of Barbie to life on the big screen.

Jacquex: Is there a particular genre or type of character you would like to explore in future projects?
Ariana: I would love to dive into the horror genre in future projects. Despite being terrified, I have a deep love for watching horror movies and would relish the opportunity to be a part of one. Additionally, exploring coming-of-age stories, especially those set on another planet or featuring a character who doesn’t speak English, is something that greatly interests me. I find the struggles of young teenage girls in those contexts to be compelling and thought-provoking.

Jacquex: Who is someone you would love to collaborate with in the industry?
Ariana: When it comes to creating a story, I would absolutely love to collaborate with the incredibly talented Greta Gerwig. Working alongside her would be an incredible experience. In terms of actors, I admire Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, and many others. The industry is filled with amazing people, and I would be honoured to collaborate with them.

Jacquex: If you were a vegetable or fruit, which one would you be and why?
Ariana: I would probably be a strawberry or a cherry. I love the sweetness and vibrant colours of both fruits. But you know what? I could also be an avocado, versatile and full of surprises!

Jacquex: Apart from acting, what are your other passions, hobbies, or interests?
Ariana: I have quite a few passions and hobbies outside of acting. I love baking and find joy in the process of creating delicious treats. Music is also a big part of my life, and I try to learn a new song on the guitar whenever possible. If sitting down and watching movies can be considered a hobby, then that’s definitely one of mine!

Jacquex: What’s a guilty pleasure of yours?
Ariana: Indulging in nostalgia by watching old YouTube videos from my younger years.

Jacquex: When making decisions, do you tend to follow your heart or the rational mind?
Ariana: When it comes to creating a character and understanding how they think, I always follow my heart. I believe emotions play a crucial role in portraying authentic characters. However, for external matters, I tend to rely on the rational mind to consider logical aspects.

Jacquex: Is there something you hope, desire, or wish for in the future?
Ariana: One of my biggest aspirations is to make a positive impact on people’s lives through our performances. I want to invoke various emotions in our audiences, whether that’s making them laugh, cry, or smile. Collaborating with other industry legends is also high on my wish list. And, of course, getting a car is something I’m looking forward to!

Jacquex: What’s your FAULT?
Ariana: Ah, our charming faults! Well, one of them is that my intake of boba is incredibly irregular. I have a weakness for those delightful drinks. Another is being a perfectionist and having high expectations of ourselves. Let’s be kinder to ourselves and embrace imperfections.
