Five Fashion Brands Catching Our Eye On Instagram This February

Words: Miles Holder

I’m forever on the lookout for new and exciting brands to follow on Instagram and this week I’ve compiled a list of the absolute best! I’ve scoured the depths of my feed to bring you five of the most eye-catching fashion brands that I fell in love this week.

Disclaimer: I am proudly Berlin based so my algorithm may have been skewed, nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised by the creativity and diversity of the brands that caught my eye this week so let’s dive in!

NAKT Studio

NAKT is a Berlin-based techno fashion label that is deeply rooted in the city’s underground techno scene. What started as an art project at Berghain in 2018 has now evolved into a strong community of designers, DJs, models, tattoo artists, and ravers known as the NAKT ARMY.

The brand’s mission is to enhance the personal techno clubbing experience through its high-quality raving clothing. The NAKT aesthetic is defined by hard cuts, minimalistic designs, metal chains, and striking iron buckles that are heavily influenced by industrial nuances.

With its focus on adventure, unity, love, freedom, and self-expression, NAKT has become a vital part of the nightlife journey for many ravers in Berlin and beyond. The entire design and production process takes place in Berlin, making NAKT a true representation of the techno community’s values.

Salt Murphy

Salt Murphy is a dynamic brand founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2020.

At the heart of Salt Murphy’s designs lies a strong emphasis on feeling and we must mention the queer design influence that is sprinkled through each collection without ever moving into the realm of outlandish.

Credit to the company’s founder, Mark Kenny, in the brand’s short life, he’s managed to successfully infused his unique perspective into the brand’s aesthetic – which is no easy feat!

ORTTU

ORTTU is a fashion brand that aims to create a community around self-expression through clothing.

The brand has a strong focus on individuality, beauty, and sensuality, and from what we’ve seen, these values are evident across their many collections.

It’s easy to recognise a ORTTU design at first glance, and this is certainly one of their key advantages on social media. In addition,  ORTTU’s expert use of influencer marketing can not be ignored – it’s certainly been key in their journey to building the strong community they have today.

DAMUR

DAMUR is Berlin-based high-end streetwear brand that challenges societal labels through self-expression in its clothing.

They first caught my eye during Berlin Fashion Week presentation and their ability to cater to the new socially conscious fashion lover is a key weapon in their arsenal. During a fashion week where many Germany designers still hired only white models, it was certainly refreshing to see diversity at the heart of the DAMUR brand.

The brand’s mission is to increase individual expression while reducing the environmental impact of fashion production through long-lasting, innovative streetwear made from deadstock premium fabrics under ethical working conditions.

The designer, Damur (Shih-Shun)Huang, brings his passion for Asian pop culture and expertise in fashion design from studies in Taipei, Brussels, and Antwerp to the Kreuzberg #DAMUR store where he participates in all stages of production.

DRYKORN For Beautiful People

DRYKORN is a leading international fashion label, founded in 1996. The brand’s core belief is that beauty is shaped by authenticity and character, not by stereotypes and clichés.

DRYKORN encourages people to find their individual definition of inner and outer beauty and to use fashion as a tool to express their personality. I recently found out that I unknowingly own a DRYKORN T-shirt with my driving license photo printed on it from an event I attended last year – so there’s that!

The brand creates high-quality, iconic pieces that stand the test of time and flatters the personality of the wearer. With the slogan “for beautiful people”, DRYKORN does not define beauty in a stereotypical or profane manner but rather focuses on the individuality, personality, diversity, and creativity of each person. Beauty is subject to the individual definition of every single person and is expressed through passions, hobbies, and personal style.
