YOUNG FATHERS release FAULTLess new single “Rice”

Words: Miles Holder

Young Fathers, made up of Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole, and G. Hastings, have just released their brand-new track Rice as part of their 2023 launch. Rice is a hectic, upbeat spiritual that provides fans a sneak peek into their upcoming fourth album. The trio successfully crams a wide mix of styles, genres, and inspirations into its 10 tracks, and the album’s opening tune, “Rice,” does a fantastic job of setting the tone for this.

The Young Fathers released “Geronimo,” “Tell Somebody,” and “I Saw” last year; their most recent single, “Rice,” shows off their amazing ability to push sonic limits. This triumphant tune is accompanied by gospel chanting, wooden percussion, handclaps, and a victorious backdrop. The track’s accompanying visual, which was created by Austrian-Nigerian artist and filmmaker David Uzochukwu, adds a further layer of grandeur.

In February, The Young Fathers kicked off their official tour, making their eagerly awaited comeback to venues all over the UK and Europe. The tour will feature a sold-out performance at the Roundhouse in London, as well as other venues like the Elysee Montmartre in Paris, Paradiso in Amsterdam, O2 Academy in Leeds and Glasgow, Olympia in Dublin, Astra in Berlin, Albert Hall in Manchester, Trix in Antwerp, Mojo Club in Hamburg, and more (full dates below).
