[Weekly Playlist] WurlD

Rising Nigerian singer/songwriter WurlD continues to shape the current climate of music radiating from Africa with his latest body of work, “AFROSOUL.” The five-track collection is his third project in 18 months, a testament to WurLD’s work ethic. WurlD’s soulful vocal performance effortlessly glides over production styles that dip between R&B and pop, underpinned by deep African rhythms and finely worked jazz elements.

We asked WurLD to put together a playlist of some of his current favorite songs, and it’s no surprise that he’s chosen some tracks off the “AFROSOUL” record. Dive into his selects below.

WurlD x Sarz – MAD

This is one of the most progressive afro beat songs out right now. The melodies are unique. It talks about complicated love, it’s a vibe.

WurlD – WAYO

This is a feel good song. When it comes on, you have no choice but to move to the rhythm. It’s definitely one for the summer.

WurlD – STORY

This is a fresh Afrosoul vibe. I love the energy & its infectious rhythm. You can listen to it at different times of the day.

Playboi Carti – @ MEH

This has a fresh delivery. It stands out to me in the hip hop world. It’s very dynamic and alluring.

Skip Marley & H.E.R – Slow Down

It’s a beautiful well put together song. It’s one of my favorite songs out this year.

Drake – Time Flies

A great vibe from drake. It’s nostalgic, takes me back to his 2008 tape, ‘Scorpion’.

YG – Laugh Now Kry Later!

It’s just good vibes all round. This is probably the softest YG release ever, lol. It has a mellow vibe, and I love it.
