[Premiere] Yola Recoba Drop New Visual For Debut Single Wicked Game

FAULT Magazine X Yola Recoba

Today we’re proud to premiere the brand new visual to Yola Recoba’s wickedly addictive single – Wicked Game. Having worked with industry giants  Calvin Harris, Jonas Blue, Jax Jones, Ellie Goulding to name but a few, the duo has now reworked Chris Isaak’s haunting 1989 hit into what is sure to be a dancefloor classic. Check out their new video and our interview with the exciting artists below.

You’ve worked with some big names in the past, is there a big change in your creative process when working on your own projects as opposed to collaborating on someone else’s?

Jon: We approach each song in the same way regardless if it’s for us or another artist. We like to create a strong foundation first and then make each track sounds just as great stripped back to a piano as the final article does. We always aim to bring a part of our sound to whoever we work with.

Does it feel bittersweet to have produced the perfect summer party track Wicked Game in one of strangest summers in history?

James: Yeah, it sure does. The response to the track has been awesome, but not being able to play the song out sucks. DJing and playing live is our favourite part of it all.

The track visual is a mixture of archive NASA footage and an awesome animated section, can you talk us through your creative inspiration for it?

Jon: We had loads of cool ideas regarding the music video, but of course, COVID-19 made creating any of those ideas impossible. When we received the idea for the NASA footage we were both really excited and we thought it was super relevant with the recent space launch. I think the song also has a very atmospheric, powerful and ‘spacey’ sound which makes the song and visuals really match well. With it being such a difficult year for everyone, it feels like a real bit of escapism.

What is your FAULT?

James: PATIENCE. Jon is the most musical out of us both, whereas my strengths lie in songwriting and singing. I find it very difficult to hear an idea to evolve and have more of an instinctive opinion when creating music. I’m sure Jon is used to be annoying him with this haha
