Sam Smith has just announced their long-awaited new single “To Die For”
It’s been a long time coming but the wait is over, almost, because Sam Smith has just announced their long-awaited new single “To Die For”. The song, which we’re sure will be an absolute TUNE will be released this Friday (14th February).
How can we be so sure that the song will be great? Well, Sam Smith will be teaming up with Jimmy Napes one more who you might remember collaborated with Sam on “Stay With Me”, “Writing’s On The Wall”, “Lay Me Down”, “Too Good At Goodbyes”, and Disclosure’s “Latch” which arguably introduced many of us onto Sam’s music.
We’ve also been told that the song opens with a sample from the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko and Sam Smith will be slowing things down and serving us with a smooth ballad. Singing atop strings and mellow piano, we’re no doubt going to see Sam Smith flexing their vocal muscles and blowing us away once more.
In their own words, Sam explains “Releasing this song is going to be a wild one – I feel like it’s from one of the deepest parts of me. I wrote this with Jimmy Napes and Stargate in LA during a time of self-discovery and heartbreak. This is for all the lonely hearts out there on another Valentine’s Day xx”
If you’re as excited as we are, stay tuned to FAULT for our review of the song once it’s released.
