Toronto duo SWANES swoops in with a glistening new single “The Hard Way”

Toronto duo SWANES lands on FAULT today with their butter-y smooth downtempo R&B single “The Hard Way.” The glistening cut follows previous releases on French/Japanese label, Kitsuné (Parcels, Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco) and will be supported with a duo of dates in Toronto on July 28 at The Baby Gand August 6 at The Burdock.

With its silky production, glittered with a compelling web of psychedelia, soul and R&B, “The Hard Way” found inspiration, quite interestingly, from the pair’s somewhat infamous doomsday-prepping relative, Bruce Beach. Beach owns one of the largest nuclear fallout shelters in Canada – The Ark Two – and after Stefan and Michael paid a visit to the shelter, “The Hard Way” was coined, playing out as a concern with the rising threat of nuclear warfare.
