FAULT Magazine Reviews MAN: Charles Jeffrey LFWM AW/17
Having long predicted the tectonic shift in British Menswear that this season’s schedule has laid bare: the ascendancy of the non-traditional upstarts, MAN was an eagerly anticipated ticket that did not disappoint!
It was Charles Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY which reigned supreme. A regal collection that was a tour de force and theatrical statement, where fashion met performance art. Taking in the breadth of traditional British costume heritage; they and the notions that are attached to them dissected, analysed and re-proposed. This subverted, and melded with Jeffrey’s expert tailoring skills, these were silhouettes of today and tomorrow, also drawing influence from London’s unique and notorious underground nightlife culture. It was more than just clothing: a proposal of a new way of perceiving what we wear, and how we wear it. Add plenty of punk rebellion, hell Charles Jeffrey IS PUNK in its truest sense and in presenting this club kid couture; LOVERBOY shows how any and everybody can be King and Queen.
