Last night FAULT attended the Q Magazine nominations party to find out just who had been nominated for the upcoming Q Magazine Awards 2016. While 2016 hasn’t been the best of all years, there has been a plethora of great music and we wanted to find out just who was in for a shot at the prestigious award this November.

While some acts above come as no surprise, namely The 1975 who stormed to number one with their album ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It’ back in February and FAULT Favourite, Biffy Clyro, who’s 7th album Ellipsis proved to be their most experimental with inclusion  of trap beats, children’s choir recordings and even exploring country themed music.

While no less talented, grime musicians Skepta and Lady Leshurr being nominated did take us back but in a great way. We were pleasantly surprised to see Grime nominated for such prestigious awards and we hope to see more judging panels taking the genre into consideration. Both have had amazing years, Sketpa’s track for which he is nominated ‘Man’, while a catchy and quote worthy tune, also took us on a journey into his artistry as he raps about his need to control his privacy and explains just why when it comes to social media, “man” truly doesn’t “care about all that”. 2016 also saw Lady Leshurr take her seat at the throne of female grime music with the release of Queen Speech 5 and Panda Remix proving Leshurr’s consistency to slay without being too bound to stereotypes of what a grime artist should be.
