FAULT Magazine Reviews YMC LCM SS17 SHOW
The YMC SS17 ‘Okoro’ collection was nothing but beautifully vibrant. Truly expressing fashion design through its ethical roots, a live band filled the atmosphere with uncontrollable African music. To match, the models stood on a lively tiled floor fitted in pink and orange suits with colour blocking pocket squares, alongside shorts and jacket combos in contrasting denim blues. Shearling lined coats of a quilted texture paired with layered shirts and baggy knits brought back the traditional khaki hue. The season’s prints of bold stripes, checks and dots adorned the loose yet smartly shaped silhouette that held a luxury and modern element that was undoubtedly playful.
The explorer men where accessorised with laced trainers and chunky tanned boots and their heads covered in caps and bright wrapped headscarves. Caramel coloured sunglasses shaded their eyes and selected models grasped gold-topped canes adding a sophisticated touch to this boldly presented collection. The added narrative shown through the vintage film cameras and beaded necklaces hung around the model necks, told the story of the cool fresh safari explorer, wearing clothing that is both practical and distinctive.
