We love the “come hither” stare Future R&B producer JR Nelson is giving us in his press photo and we’re impressed even more with the music the DC based artist has been putting out over the last year just at the tender age of 20. With chart topping remixes of Andra Day and Bon Iver, we have a feeling that 2016 is going to be even bigger, hopefully with some more original tracks. We asked Nelson to put together some of his favorite tunes and the result mirrors his R&B influenced music. Take a listen below!
dvsn – With Me
“I first stumbled upon the dvsn project when reading an article about how “Hotline
Bling” producer Nineteen85 was starting a side project with an anonymous vocalist. With three stellar tracks out to date, dvsn is the sleeper pop rnb hit of 2016. Its clean, soulful, and creative.”
Ibrahim Maalouf – Red & Black Light (20syl Remix)
“I was immediately entranced by the rich textures in the percussion and synth design, accented by samplings of Ibrahim Maalouf on trumpet. Falling in love with this track was a no brainer.”
Autograf – Metaphysical (Daktyl Remix)
“I first starting liking Daktyl when he remixed Japanese Wallpaper’s “Breathe In (ft.
Wafia)” last year and I feel like he did an even better job on this remix. Autograf is awesome to begin with, Daktyl touching the track is just flames.”
Andra Day – Rise Up (JR Nelson Remix)
esta. – AllNight
“If you’re not hip to Justin Bieber or esta. yet, just listen to this.”
Leon T. Pearl – You’ll Be Fine
“There’s just something about these vocals. I can’t stop listening to it. I originally found it through a nu-disco remix, but the original shines bright.”
kayjo. – trophy (ft. rahrah the savage)
“RahRah the Savage is a savage when it comes to vocals. He murders any beat he touches. Kayjo is a beast and murders any vocals he touches. It makes a good combo.”
Kiiara – Intention
“Kiiara is another amazing vocalist. She’s the white Beyoncé. Nuff said.”
unkown & SevnthWonder – Can I (ft. Devrano)
“In the flurry of music he’s been releasing lately, SevnthWonder put out this collab with unknown and Devrano, and its to die for. With a mix of adept synth and percussion work compunded by killer vocals, this track bangs.”
S’natra – Feelin’ Good (ft. Synead) (Prod. Ivan Jackson)
“Coming from half the creative mind of Brasstracks, Ivan Jackson, my good friend S’natra kills this upeat bright song. Save this one to cure any rainy day blues.”
