Design signatures such as minimalism and strap fastenings were as expected at Lee Roach’s spring/summer 16 presentation, held in the former Central Saint Martins building. Under the 19th century building’s circular room with arched entrances and glass dome roof stood juxtaposing rows of white mannequins on mirrored platforms standing rigid and lifeless.
Garments had been deconstructed with side panels missing, waistcoats left open with no fastenings and sleeves formed by a simple strap across the upper arm. Collarless leather jackets featured wide stitch detailing on the seams while simple peg trousers had front seams for a tailored look – the attention to detail was well placed this season.
The introduction of a few pieces of denim was fresh for spring/summer 16 with a washed indigo used on long waistcoats, straight-leg jeans and thigh-length coats.
