Balenciaga SS15 campaign
Parisian fashion house Balenciaga always cuts a sharp silhouette. Spring/summer 15 throws up even more desirable structured pieces with see-through lattice details and midi-length pencil skirts covered in a diamond shape detailing. However, the campaign for the collection is showing us their softer side.
Shot by Steven Klein, a lilac hue washes over each image creating a hazy, dream-like feel. Model Sasha Pivovarova, in nude makeup and poker straight, swept back hair, appears multiple times in the same image adding to the subtly surrealist mood. The multiple faces of the same woman aims to represent the complex inner life of the Balenciaga woman.
The direction of the campaign has aimed to highlight the season’s romantic and tranquil feel which is seen in the use of sheer panelling, modest lengths and silvery white and pastel colour palette by creative director Alexander Wang.
