FAULT Magazine Attends VFILES NYFW Launch Party @ Webster Hall

If anyone doubts eccentricity has long past amongst New York’s fashion scene, boutique and social media platform, VFILES, continually proves naysayers wrong. For its third installment this season during New York Fashion Week , VFILES showcased collections from emerging designers sourced from their fashion network. Chosen for their aesthetics and talent by the VFILES team, the online community, and a group of mentors which include celebrity stylist, Mel Ottenberg, emerging designers Tigran Avetisyan, D.TT.K, ZDDZ and HyeGin Hamm were given the platform to show their newest collections to VFILES’ ever-growing cult following.

Set in the booming nightclub and concert venue, Webster Hall, the VFILES Spring/Summer ‘15 show was – quite literally – an ostentatious fashion affair, filled with downtown, idiosyncratic fashion lovers. As expected, with the placement of the show inside a nightclub, the style on and off the runways was surely a feast for one’s eyes. But let’s get back to the brash clothing of all four individual designers. Following suit with previous designers who have been chosen to show their collections through VFILES seasons past, and the overall VFILES brand, all four designers this season had evident athletic wear influences weaved throughout their collections – an aspect of cohesiveness and a possible reason they were chosen to show alongside one another. One small nuance, though, was HyeGin Hamm’s strict use of denim for her eponymous menswear line, HAMM.

Additionally, HyeGin’s maintenance of monochromatic looks set her slightly apart from the four others ,whose use of the traditional American color palette (red, white and blue) were recurring throughout the show.
