Richard Nicoll – LCM SS15
Richard Nicoll gave us the perfect relaxed weekend wardrobe for a spring/summer 15 full of fun. Crumpled white t-shirts that looked as though the models had just rolled out of bed, rave-ready metallic silver bomber jackets and a black and white gingham jumpsuit that has never made the picnic fabric look cooler.
Batik prints added a touch of exoticism in citrus yellow, orange and ink blue whilst simple check shirts, fine knit jumpers and loose-fit suits in the ombre colour scheme, though nothing revolutionary, provided cohesion and commercial viability to the collection.
A red and blue tweed coat with striking orange lapels showed off Nicoll’s smarter side, in contrast to an earlier oversized raincoat in light brown with a giant metallic silver pocket which flashed Nicoll’s edgier sensibilities. Despite these two opposing menswear ideals on show, the collection flowed nicely together; proving that he is one of the few menswear designers who sits comfortable between the two worlds.
