While the influences of Christopher Raeburn’s show were inevitable as soon as the pop-up wooden aeroplanes landed in our FAULT mailbox, what surprised us the most, were the darker, more refined, industrial aspects of the show.
While aviation was clearly a strong theme throughout the SS15 collection with prints of aeroplanes, military details and a general utilitarian feel throughout many of the pieces. The smarter, more wearable tailoring, serious shapes and the neat 4-5 tone tone colour-combination focused Raeburn to produce a well-thought out and curated collection. More concise and less fun than previous seasons, this collection reflects unsurprisingly, that as the brand grows in size, fan-base and credibility the edit of the collection will become tighter each season. From what started out as a designer creating recycled parachute cover-ups, Christopher Raeburn is now standing firmly as a strong and lasting London talent.
